This anthology of crime stories is very good, with selection of different authors from early age of crime fiction to more modern authors, showcasing what crime fiction itself is capable of, not just as cheap thrill for summer reading, but also as example of what kind of animal human is capable of doing. It also contains insightful introduction by Michael Stapleton, and by sheer size and in hardcover it can serve as a murder weapon. Of course, it is not perfect as it name suggests it, and it shouldn't be, because nothing is perfect in this world. But all in all fine crime fiction story collection.
